Shrinkflation in New Zealand: packs that got smaller
Every pack Kepie Watch has reported getting smaller at PAK’nSAVE, New World or Woolworths, newest first. We print a change once we’ve read the new size more than once, or when two separate reports back it up and we’ve read the pack on the shelf ourselves.
Mon 21 to Sun 27 Sept 2026
Cadbury Favourites went from 570g to 520g, and now 470g.
18% less in the pack since May 2023.
Over the last eight weeks the 470g pack has cost from $9.49 at PAK'nSAVE to $20.00 at Woolworths, or $2.02 to $4.26 per 100g.

How we know: We didn't see these size changes ourselves. Our price history starts in April 2026 and every change here happened before that, so each one comes from at least two published reports, linked below. What we did measure is the pack on the shelf now: 470g at all three supermarkets.

Perfect Italiano Parmesan Cheese went from 250g to 200g, and the price came down.
19% more per 100g.
50g less in the pack, and the shelf price went from $10.49 to $9.99.

How we know: This is a new product code, not a resized pack. We read the 250g version on 2 separate days, most recently 3 June, and haven't seen it since. The 200g version turned up under a new code on 22 June and we've read it on 31 separate days. We can't prove the old pack is gone for good, only that we stopped seeing it and started seeing a smaller one.
Mon 7 to Sun 13 Sept 2026
Nestle Milk Chocolate Scorched Almonds went from 240g to 180g, and the price went up.
62.3% more per 100g.
60g less in the pack, and the shelf price went from $5.99 to $7.29.

How we know: This is a new product code, not a resized pack. We read the 240g version on 1 day, most recently 3 May, and haven't seen it since. The 180g version turned up under a new code on 31 August and we've read it on 7 separate days. The old pack's size isn't on its listing: we worked out 240g from the shop's own unit price of $2.50 per 100g against its $5.99 shelf price. We can't prove the old pack is gone for good, only that we stopped seeing it and started seeing a smaller one.

M&M's Milk Chocolate Fun Size Mini Bags went from 162g to 148g, same price.
9.5% more per 100g.
14g less in the pack, and it's still $6.69 on the shelf.

Graze Tamari Roasted Almonds went from 455g to 420g, and the price went up.
17.6% more per 100g.
35g less in the pack, and the shelf price went from $13.99 to $15.19.
